Terms of Service
The short version
- Disposable addresses. @dutbox.com addresses are temporary. We can delete any address, mailbox or message at any time, without notice.
- Receive-only. You can read and delete mail. You can't send mail.
- No spam, no abuse. Accounts used for spam, fraud or abuse are deleted immediately.
- We keep copies. Incoming mail is archived. Deleting a message hides it from you, but we may keep a copy (see the Privacy Policy).
- Don't rely on it for anything important, like banking, government services, or recovery of important accounts.
1. About the service
dutbox (“the Service”, “we”, “us”) is run by dutbox. It gives you a receive-only email address on dutbox.com and a web inbox at https://dutbox.com. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
2. Disposable addresses, no guarantee
Addresses on dutbox.com are disposable and provided for short-term, low-importance use. We may, at our sole discretion and without prior notice:
- delete or disable any address, mailbox or account;
- delete any message or attachment, or stop accepting incoming mail;
- change limits, features or availability, or shut the Service down.
We are not responsible for any loss caused by that, including lost messages, lost access to other services that use your dutbox.com address, or missed verification emails. Do not use a dutbox.com address for banking, payments, government, healthcare, work, or as the recovery email of any important account. Once an address is deleted, it may be given to someone else, and they will receive mail sent to it.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent where you live).
- Give accurate information, including a real personal email address you control. Temporary or throwaway personal emails are not accepted.
- Keep your password private. You are responsible for everything done with your account.
- One person per account. We may limit how many addresses one person, personal email or network can create.
- Addresses that impersonate brands, organisations, staff or other people (for example containing “support”, “admin”, “security” or a company name) are not allowed and may be removed.
4. Receive-only
The Service only receives mail. Sending is switched off for every mailbox, and you never get direct access to the mail server (webmail, IMAP, POP3 or SMTP). Trying to get around these restrictions breaks these Terms.
5. Acceptable use: spam and abuse are not allowed
You must not use the Service, or any dutbox.com address, to:
- send, relay, generate or take part in spam or unsolicited bulk email, including signing an address up to mailing lists, newsletters or bulk services you don't actually want, in order to flood our servers;
- create accounts in bulk or with bots, scripts or other automated means, or resell or share accounts;
- commit fraud, phishing or scams, or impersonate any person or organisation;
- abuse other services, for example by creating fake or duplicate accounts, farming free trials, bonuses or referrals, evading bans, or manipulating votes, reviews or rankings;
- receive, store or distribute illegal content, malware, or content that infringes other people's rights;
- harass, threaten or harm anyone;
- attack, probe, overload, scrape or disrupt the Service or our servers, or try to access other users' mail.
6. Enforcement
We watch for abuse automatically (for example sign-up limits, sending-rate limits on verification codes, and limits on how much mail a mailbox can receive). If we believe an account breaks these Terms, we may suspend or delete it, and its mail, immediately and without notice. We may also block incoming mail to it, and keep or share relevant information with affected parties or authorities where the law allows or requires. Mailboxes that receive unusually large volumes of mail may be paused automatically, in which case further mail can bounce back to the sender.
7. Storage, limits and deletion
Each mailbox has storage and volume limits, which we may change. Mail that exceeds a limit may be rejected, bounced or discarded. Incoming messages are copied to our archive as soon as they arrive. When you delete a message, it is removed from your inbox, but a copy may stay in our archive for operational, backup, security and legal reasons. We may also delete archived mail at any time. The Privacy Policy explains this in more detail.
8. Our access to mail
Our administrators can access stored messages when needed to run and secure the Service, handle support requests, investigate spam or abuse, make backups, and comply with the law. Don't use the Service for confidential or sensitive messages.
9. No warranty
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including availability, reliability, delivery of any message, security, or fitness for a particular purpose.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, dutbox is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, messages, accounts, access, profits or opportunities, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Where liability can't be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim (which may be zero).
11. Closing your account
You can stop using the Service at any time. To ask us to delete your account, contact us at the address below. We may end or suspend your access at any time, for any reason, including under sections 2 and 6.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. When we do, we change the date at the top and ask you to accept the new version the next time you sign in. If you don't accept, stop using the Service.
13. Contact and abuse reports
Questions, account deletion requests, or reports of spam or abuse involving a dutbox.com address: abuse@dutbox.com.
